What are your first names?
Andrea and Bruce
Where and when did you get engaged?
At home on Christmas day, the first Christmas in our new house.
What was your wedding date?
27th April 2013
Where did you get married?
St Michael's church Stanwix, Carlisle
Why did you choose your venue?
The
marquee at The Garden at Eden, Crosby on Eden Golf course, Carlisle. We
liked the fact that it was nice and spacious and that we could make it
look how we wanted for our wedding. It has lovely gardens for pictures.
Did you have a “theme”?
Not really but lilies, hearts and doves played a big part in the wedding.
What was your wedding colour scheme?
Purple, sliver and ivory
Why did you choose Simply Bows and Chair Covers and what were they like to work with?
From
the first phone call Kristy was really helpful. Looking through all of
her pictures even helped us to choose our venue, as her work helps to
transform rooms and make them look wonderful. Once we had chosen our
venue, Kristy was great with ideas for colours and styles. She helped us
lots with other wedding advice too, which was brilliant, as there's so
much to do when planning a wedding. She was even able to help with
decorating the church, be adding bows to pew ends.
Kristy
is really organised and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. She
wants your wedding to be perfect and takes great pride in her work,
which is really reassuring. The room looked amazing and all the guests
commented on it.
I also made bunting to decorated the room to complement Kristy's lovely sashes.
What sort of dress did you choose and where from?
The brides dress was Adorae by Sottero and Midgley. Fit
and flare gown with sweetheart neckline and corset back, with swarovski
beading details. The veil had a trimmed satin edge to match the dress
and swarovski beads hand sewn on by the bride. Dress, veil and shoes
were from Carol Roberts Couture Bridal.
What did your bridesmaids wear?
My close friends were bridesmaids. Nicola Burnett (28) was chief
bridesmaids. The others were Lisa McGuiggan (29), Michelle Evans (27)
and Ruth McGowan (27) They wore purple Grecian style chiffon dresses.
The
flower girl was Hanna Davidson, our neice and she wore a ivory
satin and tulle dress which the bride customised with a chiffon belt
and flower to match the bridesmaids.
The bride hand made beaded bracelets for them all to wear.
Who was your photographer?
Mollie and Adele photography
What “special touches” did you add to your day?
i had made the neck ties and pockets squares in purple silk for
the bridal party. i also hand stitched button holes in to the grooms
bespoke suit.
The
invites, order of service, tables names, name cards, table plan and
menus were all designed and made by the bride. The tables were named
after lilies- the brides favourite flower. Pictures of lilies were hand
drawn by the the chief bridesmaid- Nicola and I made them in to
the table names.
I also made individual favours for all of the ladies. These included
beaded earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, in hand made boxes. I
wanted something for the guest to take away with them to remember the
day by. The colours matched the wedding colour scheme.
We released Doves to celebrate our new life together.
This was a surprise to all the guests and a lovely touch to the day.
We had a magician on the evening to entertain the guests, which people really enjoyed.
What was your favourite part of the day?
Arriving at the church and seeing Bruce waiting for me at the alter smiling.
Where did you go on honeymoon?
Vegas, San Diego and New York. We got to see and do some amazing things, which we will remember forever.
What would be your top tip for another bride to be?
Try
to be organised as soon as possible so you can relax on the run up to
the big day and enjoy it instead of stressing. Enjoy every minute as it
goes so quickly.
