Simply Honoured To Be A Wedding Supplier and Bridesmaid

Joanne, Area Director from our Simply Bows and Chair Covers Lancashire office
shares her thoughts on a very special wedding she dressed this summer...
Anna and Dave were not only a client to me but also my best friends, so when they asked me to be a Bridesmaid AND dress their venue I was over the moon.

The Gibbon Bridge is a privately owned wedding venue and hotel based
in The Forest of Bowland with a superb reputation. Anna and Dave wanted to stick with
the charm of the hotel whilst giving it a vintage twist to match her tea length wedding dress.

The hotel already has gorgeous embroidered jacquard style chair covers for their dining chairs so we decided to stick to neutral colours to compliment the chairs.

Anna chose ivory organza sashes with a lace overlay to create a double bow,
which accentuated the existing chair covers perfectly.

Anna had also picked up some vintage styled items that she wanted incorporating
so we used the pearl heart over a lace top table swag
topped off with pearl strands to finish the look.

I knew all the suppliers had involved had done a good job when Anna arrived at
The Gibbon Bridge and cried when she entered the room...
the perfect reaction for me both as a friend and as a supplier.

Before the speeches, the manager even announced it was the best he had ever seen the room looking!

Read on for Anna's 'Real Bride' interview...

What are your first names?
Our first names are Dave & Anna

Where and when did you get engaged?
We got engaged in September 2012, sadly there isn't a romantic story
to go with the proposal, we just chose the ring together
whilst out shopping at the Trafford Centre!

What was your wedding date?
Our wedding date was August 8th 2014

Where did you get married?
We got married at the Gibbon Bridge in Chipping and our ceremony took place
on the bandstand in the beautiful garden of the venue.

Why did you choose your venue?
We chose our venue based on the bandstand...

 ... and the beautiful gardens

I'd dreamt since being a small child about getting married in a country garden and
as soon a we saw the venue we just knew it was the one!
[Download The Gibbon Bridge wedding brochure here]

 Did you have a “theme”?
Our theme was vintage, I wanted lots of lace and pearl!

What was your wedding colour scheme?
Our colour scheme was dusky pink and olive green.

Why did you choose Simply Bows and Chair Covers and
what were they like to work with?
I chose simply bows as our venue dresser after seeing many photos
on the website and just loved Joanne's work. Joanne was fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating.

The quality of the sashes was excellent and so many people
commented on how beautiful the chairs looked.
Joanne also dressed our top table which looked equally as pretty!

What sort of dress did you choose and where from?
I wore a tea length dress and absolutely loved it!
I'd tried so many dresses on and was starting to
become really disheartened as I couldn't find one that I liked.

That was until I visited Lulu Browns in Whalley and the tea length dress stood out from afar. I'd never tried one on before but as soon as I tried it on,
according to my bridesmaids, my face lit up! I just knew it was the one.

 What did your bridesmaids wear?
My bridesmaids wore dusky pink maxi dresses.

Who was your photographer?
Our photographer was Lottie Designs, she was brilliant!
[See more Lottie Design photos from Dave and Anna's big day here]

What “special touches” did you add to your day?
We had many special touches on the day.

As I am quite creative I'd made a lot of decorations myself

including the table plan and all the place names.
I'd set up a D.I.Y photo booth and provided all the female guests
with flip-flops in the evening so there were no excuses for not dancing!
We had a swing duo called 'All that Swing'
who did a great job of entertaining our guests in the evening.

What was your favourite part of the day?
I can't chose a favourite part of the day as I loved every second of it all, it was everything we'd dreamt of and more! I'd do it all again tomorrow!

Where did you go on honeymoon?
We went to Dubai and the Maldives for our honeymoon.
We spent 4 night on the palm in Dubai and a week at Constance Moofushi in the Maldives. We had the most amazing time.

What would be your top tip for another bride to be?
My top tip for another bride would be not to get stressed before the wedding.
I'd taken up Bikram yoga a few weeks before and did 6 sessions 2 weeks before the wedding, it really helped me relax and stay calm.
Looking back I realised that there was nothing to get stressed about anyway,
it will be the best day of your life no matter what happens!

Simply a Franchise in Focus: Meet Joanne from Lancashire

    Introduce yourself and your area...
I’m Joanne, 25 from Lancashire and cover from the likes of Fleetwood, Preston and the Ribble valley right down to Chorley.

    What is your background?
I graduated from Liverpool Hope University in 2009 with a BA (Hons) in Law & Business. Since then, I have worked as the Food & Beverage Manager at a prestigious venue in the Ribble Valley and more recently, as the Manager of a Restaurant and Hotel chain. These roles formed my enthusiasm for organising weddings and events, which led to the Simply Bows & Chair Covers franchise opportunity and I have never looked back.

Why did you take a franchise with Simply Bowsand Chair Covers?
I have always loved organising and working at weddings but I also knew that I wanted to work for myself.  Initially I thought that this would be through being a wedding planner but after research I came across Simply Bows and Chair Covers.  From working in weddings day in day out, I knew that there was definitely a market in Lancashire for high quality made to measure chair covers and linen, as the covers I always came across were ill fitted, dirty and made of cheap fabric.

Why do you love working for yourself?
Working for myself means that I can be a bit more flexible with my working hours.  If I have other commitments during the day I can always work in the evening or vice versa (once all my weddings have been attended to of course!).  I also love the fact that every day brings something different.  Over the last few years I have appeared on TV as a ‘wedding expert’, been invited to many a Charity Ball or Dinner Dance and met some fantastic people.

Why do you love being a Simply Bows and Chair Covers franchisee?
Since day 1, the support network of Simply Bows and Chair Covers has been second to none, both from head office and the other girls.  Our team meetings are invaluable for advice, motivation and general help.  I often get asked why I didn’t set up alone, but without the reputation, support network and fantastic website that we have at Simply Bows and Chair Covers I very much doubt I would be where I am today with the business.

Where do you see you, and your franchisee in 1 years time and also 3 years time?
1 year: I want to increase my events by 20% on 2013, which I am so far on track to do.  I also wish to take on a hotel linen contract and be in the packages of 2 more major hotels and recommended in 20 further venues across Lancashire.
3 years: In 3 years time I wish to be completing 250 events per year, in packages of 4 major hotels and recommended in 50% of the venues in Lancashire.
And of course I want to still be enjoying what I do... I'm sure I will be! :)
