Simply a real wedding: Angie marries David in her Northumberland wedding....

What are your first names?

Angie and David

Where and when did you get engaged?

We were on holiday in Reykjavik Iceland. We had been to see the Northern Lights (which was breath taking) and David proposed in the warmth of our cosy hotel room.

What was your wedding date?

5th June 2013

 Where did you get married?

St Mary’s Church followed by a reception at Eshott Hall, Morpeth Northumberland

Why did you choose your venue?

We visited almost every venue in and around the area and chose Eshott Hall due to its homely feel and beautiful location. The boutique venue stuck in our mind and we fell in love with the amazing entrance hall and honeymoon suite.

Did you have a “theme”?

No, we didn’t want to restrict the colours/ décor. We always wanted to have wild flowers in every shade of green all over the venue and the church and make the flowers the main decoration focus.

What was your wedding colour scheme?

Mainly, because of the amount of flowers, green was the main colour used.

Why did you choose Simply Bows and Chair Covers and what were they like to work with?

As we are based in London (for work) I used the internet A LOT during the planning and SBCC they had so many fantastic photos showing what they have. I set up a meeting and decided very quickly on the prettiest chair backs and runners!

What sort of dress did you choose and where from?

My wedding dress was by Jenny Packham and Kathryn Trueman Bridal & Occassions in Morpeth did all of the alterations, I got the most amazing wedding shoes from there too!

What did your bridesmaids wear?

Dresses by Adrianna Pappel in peacock blue, they looked beautiful.

Who was your photographer?

Our good friend Emily Bennett- Coles, she lives and works in New York. She made it so relaxing and caught us in the moment- we don’t like posing!

What “special touches” did you add to your day?

My Auntie designed and made all of the wedding stationary, my mum and I decorated over 50 jars collected over the last year and they were places all over the venue (on the stairs in the evening they looked very pretty) a family friend made some amazing cupcakes for the evening party and our amazing wedding cake was made by Heatherslaw Bakery. We also hired champagne saucers as they look so elegant and fit with the feel of the venue and asked my cousins band to play in the evening.

What was your favourite part of the day?

Walking up the aisle with my dad was pretty overwhelming! Seeing Dave for the first time was very special, my dad’s speech was lovely and seeing all our family and friends together in the ballroom was so nice.

Where did you go on honeymoon?

We went to Disney World in Florida, we flew the next day!

What would be your top tip for another bride to be?

Enjoy your engagement, it’s a special time so don’t start planning a wedding straight away (we were engaged for about 2 years post wedding) take your time and do research with the planning, don’t rush choosing your dress! Also, you don’t need to look at other people’s weddings for ideas because everyone is different- do what you two want to do because on the day you want to enjoy yourselves too- remember the day is for you two as well!
