Simply a spoonful of sugar! Divine sweet treats and cakes from Sara's Kitchen....

What is company name?
Sara’s Kitchen

What is your line of business?
Cakes and all kinds of delicious treats!

How and why the company begin?
I used to work in the Theatre’s as a set designer and stage manager, but had always dreamed of starting my own cake business, after I had my two children, I decided it was now or never, so retrained and basically the rest is history! I absolutely love what I do!

Are you married? If so tell us a little about your wedding….

Yes, to my lovely Hubbie Darran. We’re both originally from Essex, so had a gorgeous country style wedding, at a place called Crabbs Barn, it was the perfect summers day, guests were walking around bare foot, eating Strawberries and Cream, while our friend played acoustic songs we’d chosen, I wouldn’t have changed a single detail!

Why do brides come to you?
Brides normally come to me because their after something a little different, they know I’ll get their vision and deliver! Whether it’s Cake pops designed to look like afternoon tea or a Vintage Birdcage Design that’s never been see before, I will make sure every detail is perfect!

What is your favourite design and why?

I love Cath Kidston, My chairs in the Kitchen are even upholstered in her fabrics! so I do really love a bride who’s after the Vintage roses or takes inspiration from her, You can literally go crazy with the selection of fabrics available or just include subtle touches for a wedding cake that will suit any Vintage theme!

What is the most popular item you supply and why?
My birdcage cakes are extremely popular at the moment, especially with one of 2013’s trends being birds. Also my rustic macaroons and brownies are a huge hit, making lovely favours!

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Everywhere!! I love a good rummage around the charity shops for lace doilies or fantastic vintage clothes and have been know to design a cake around some vintage lace fabric! Obviously Cath Kidston is an inspiration and my newest cake, a button cascade was designed using the colours from one of her suitcases of tin soldiers!

What is in store for you in 2013?

I’ve just moved into a new studio along with some other lovely Wedding companies, so lots of exciting things are coming up, including an official opening party and some fantastic new displays for the 2013 wedding fairs, watch this space!

Who would be your dream client, and what sort of design would you envisage for them?
I know I’m going to sound corny, but the couples I have past and present, they end up becoming friends, always trust me and let me create something perfect for their day!

What would be your top tips for brides when searching for a supplier in your industry?

Make sure you meet them face to face, you have to be able to trust them and know they can deliver! Look at previous work and recommendations from friends and family are always great!!

Tell us something super interesting about you or your business that we wouldn’t already know…?

I got down to the last 50 out of thousands of applicants for getting onto The Great British Bake Off 2012! Sadly I didn’t make the live show!

Where are you based and where can you supply?
I’m Based in Consett but can deliver to the whole of the North East and North Yorkshire.

Simply Sculpted... Fabulous Wedding Ice Sculptures....

What is company name?
Technically we have 2! Our parent company is Global Ice Sculptures Ltd and from this Ice Styling was born.
What is your line of business?
We design, create and hand carve ice sculptures and vodka luges, specialising in the wedding industry, specialising in focal pieces, table seating plans, table centrepieces and ice venue decor...

How and why the company begin?
The need for something a “bit more girly” became apparent last year, so with some research and a lot of learning I built our website.... we wanted to showcase wedding ideas and inspiration and really work within the bridal market.
Are you married? If so tell us a little about your wedding….
Alas not!
Why do brides come to you?
Well, I would like to think we offer something different and not the usual, a full size sculpture will certainly add the wow factor, and often a more personalised piece will show care and thought, I would also like to think our customer service is exceptional, we work with couples right from their first concept through to delivery at their venue on the day.

What is your favourite design?
Aah, I love our Pyramid ice table centrepieces, so gorgeous, yet completely different and not what people expect!
Combined with the ability to add almost anything inside the ice (size permitting), I love to match these up with our brides flowers, theming and/or venue decor.
What is the most popular item you supply?
Ice table seating plans, these have been a new addition to our range in 2012 and after exhibiting at a few wedding shows and featuring on blogs and national wedding magazines, they have really taken off.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Everywhere to be honest, our clients sometimes come to us with an exact brief; others come to us without having a clue about what they want. We also work alongside current trends and themes and I like to make sure I keep up to date with lots of national wedding magazines, Twitter and other social media outlets.
What is in store for you in 2013?
Now that would be telling.... but we do have exciting plans in the pipeline.....

Who would be your dream client, and what sort of design would you envisage for them?
A client who is open to suggestions and maybe willing to try something that’s not quite the “norm”, for example, a whole icy wedding theme, we have the ability to do amazing things with ice so to be given free reign would be amazing.

What would be your top tips for brides when searching for a supplier in your industry?
Check everything out thoroughly before booking, look at suppliers pictures and if you can go visit, our customers are ALWAYS welcome to come and see us, they can see their whole concept from start to finish, from the ice being frozen right through to picking up a chainsaw if they would like to!

Tell us something super interesting about you or your business that we wouldn’t already know…?
Did you know that hot water freezes quicker than cold water..... I’m not a scientist, but it’s something to do with .....particles....

Where are you based and where can you supply?
We have offices and our carving studio in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, the glorious Chilterns, we also have an office based in Derbyshire, so between us all we can and often do cover most of the UK, we have also shipped sculptures abroad, most recently to the Army in Dusseldorf for their Christmas ball.
How can I get in touch to discuss my requirements or place an order?
We’re fairly easy going, so pop by for a cuppa and a chat, then there is of course the standard ways of E mail and the telephone, or on a good day we’ll keep our eyes open for them there smoke signals..
