After American's Susan and Evan Money got married and were spending a not so great first year anniversay (while both were working superviseing a school trip in France) they decided to plan an ad hoc trip to The Gardens of Versailles and an even more ad hoc renewal of the vows whilst away.

Blown over by the romance and fun of this move the couple made a pact to do the very same thing every single year and renew their vows and get married all over again as they see it, in a different place around the world on their wedding anniversary each year.

15 years on and 15 weddings later they are still going strong and are as in love as the day they first married!

'Evan’s always been a thoughtful, romantic guy - he really is the love of my life. I never thought I’d be as happy as I was on my wedding day,' admits Susan, 'But it turns out - 15 weddings later - I’m even happier than before.'

Mark Niemierko, one of the UK’s leading event and wedding planners, hosted a valentine’s reception with a masculine twist at men’s tailoring house Spencer Hart, last week on Tuesday 07^th February 2012.

The St Valentine’s Party was held within Spencer Hart’s newly opened flagship store on Brook Street in London’s Mayfair.

Mark Niemierko comments “My annual Valentine’s party allows the wedding industry a night off, to let their hair down and celebrate the hard work we’ve all put in. As well as to look forward to the weddings in the year ahead. A few previous Niemierko Grooms have chosen to wear Spencer Hart suits on their wedding day, upon visiting their new flagship store I instantly thought this would make a great party venue. Perfectly located directly opposite one of my favourite hotels, Claridge’s, and diagonally opposite Vera Wang. Brook Street is fast becoming a must visit location for all Brides and Grooms.”

Mark Niemierko chose for one night to focus his attention on the Groom for a change. After all it is all about marrying two people!

The evening had a gentlemanly theme throughout. Cigar girls, model waitresses serving Godfathers, a whiskey based cocktail, along with Sweet Manhattans.

The canapés provided by Martyn Neil, Claridge’s Executive Chef were as tasty as they looked. Ballotine of Foie Gras, Cornet of Smoke Salmon Moscovites, Oriental Spoon of Lobster and Papaya and a selection of sushi.

As with all Niemierko events they didn’t disappoint with dessert. Whiskey truffles, gold dust macaroons and Brandy Snaps with Grand Marnier Whipping Cream.

Niemierko’s dear friend and florist Rob Van Helden (who will be featuring in a unique interview on our blog very soon) arranged for phalaenopsis orchid displays as well as filling the perspex bar with buttonholes.

The perfectly matched black baroque poser tables supplied by Great Hire looked as though they were made for the store. Whilst the entertainment came from singer Sean Ryder Wolf, a handsome swing singer.

The unquestionable highlight of the evening came from second performer Kelli-Leigh, an amazing vocalist who sings with the likes of Adele.

Guests walked off with Niemierko gift bags including a pair of Claridge’s His and Her slippers, Cigars, Groom shaped cookies, The Hangover DVD and a Niemierko gift card set.... the lucky folks!!!

Now THAT is how to throw a party!

Simply Chocolate! We get behind The Sick Children's Trust once again....

After last years HUGELY successful Big Chocolate Tea Party in aid of The Sick Children's Trust that we hosted we have decided to do it all again!

Last year De Vere Slaley Hall were kind enough to be our host venue and we had a wonderful day raising over £1000 for this fabulous charity. The Sick Children’s Trust was founded in 1982 by two pediatric specialists, Dr Jon Pritchard and Professor James Malpas, who believed that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefited a child's recovery.

On average, 1.9 million children in the UK require hospital treatment each year. Every day, children are diagnosed with serious and life-threatening illnesses or have terrible accidents that leave them fighting for life. They often have to be transferred to specialist hospitals far from home to receive critical medical treatment. Life for their whole family is suddenly thrown into complete turmoil.

The Sick Children's Trust work with the hospitals, supporting them in their role and providing complementary support to families. They help to alleviate some of the emotional and financial strains at a very stressful time, providing an essential service free of charge for up to 108 families every night, 365 days a year.

Whilst staying at one of their ‘Homes from Home’ is free of charge, the charity incurs a total cost of £27 per bedroom per night. They are not funded by the Government and in times when resources are scarce, they depend even more on their supporters and events such as this to help them cover this cost.

West Northumberland and Cumbria Director Kristy Giblin visited one of their home from home's last year at Newcastle's RVI (Crawford House) and was incredibly moved by the great work they did there. Simply Bows and Chair Covers were therefore only too happy to help and get involved in their Big Chocolate Tea Party 2011 campaign. Here are a few photo's from the amazing day....

This year we have decided to get involved once again and this time were teaming up with The Fairies of Northumberland and The Enchanted Forest to create a truly MAGICAL family fun day out!

Many of our clients like the idea of keeping their wedding colour scheme very neutral but are scared in case it looks too plain or boring. So we thought we would show you how stunning it can look.....

This wedding took place at Eshott Hall in September 2011 on a beautiful sunny day. Simply Bows and Chair Covers dressed the chairs in white chair covers with organza sashes tied with a pearl clasp. Whilst bels flowers worked their magic, creating beautiful centre pieces using crisp white seasonal blooms in various different silver vases.

We once blogged about the highly controversial 'Wedding List' trend and your reactions were vast and varied both for and against!

Well Simply Bows and Chair Covers have recently discovered an ever growing trend for 'Engagement Lists' among our bride to be's and want to know your thoughts...

As with the majority of our UK trends this new phenomenon has originated from the USA. It is becoming so popular that now that Debenham's has seen a doubling in the number of engagement lists registered by customers in the past year.

Wedding lists tradionally focus on items for the home; cookwear, bedding, towels and other not terribly thrilling items! The Engagement lists however seem to include the more romantic items available.... heart shaped cake tins, silver plated heart shaped photo frames etc, his and hers robes etc.

Choccywoccydoodah are a dedicated team of artists, designers and chocolatiers who specialise in creating decadent, bespoke wedding cakes, chocolate birthday cakes and unique chocolate gifts. They are sooooo much more than your usual cake shop. All of their cakes are made by hand and are covered in the most creative chocolate creations to tantalise your taste buds and your eyes....

We are called choccywoccydoodah.

Choccywoccydoodah is an art and design focused chocolaterie based in the bohemian city of Brighton ...

How and why the company begin?

It began when the two Christine’s decided that if they had to have keys to a shop it would have to be a chocolate shop.

Why do brides come to you?

So that we can create the cake of their dreams for their special day, paired with impeccable customer service and a healthy helping of fairy dust.

What is your favourite design and why?

Our towering six tier cake called “All You Need Is Love”, because it is very colourful and brings a smile to everyone’s faces, as well as being the truest thing ever said..

Where do you get your inspiration from?

All over the world, Gaudi to Caravaggio, Hockney to Lowry.

What is in store for you in 2012?

Hopefully we will have a London store very soon which we are delighted about. We are also looking forward to Valentine’s Day (the season of love), whenever there’s love, chocolate follows. There is also the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and of course weddings, summer weddings, winter weddings, alternative weddings, weddings abroad, anti-weddings etc etc. Easter is well underway, of epic proportion, of course! Finally, Christmas, It’s looking quite busy for us this year.

Who would be your dream client, and what sort of design would you envisage for them?

We love all our customer, we adore turning their dreams into chocolate and cake reality.

What would be your top tips for brides when searching for a supplier in your industry?

The best tip we can give any brides when searching for a cake supplier is to stop their search immediately and come to us!

Where are you based and where can you supply?

Our shop and café are based in Brighton, in the heart of the historic Lanes, but customers can order most of our products online in the UK. A selected line can be shipped to Europe too. For countries with tough food importing laws, we have a lovely collection of non-food items, such as T-shirts, tote bags and Branded bracelets available on mail order.

Simply Engaged! Proposal Stories....

Last year the Simply Bows and Chair Covers team heard some wild and wonderful proposal stories from our lovely couples that passed through our offices. Some warmed our hearts, some made us smile and some made us gasp!

As a starting point we thought we would share with you a unique proposal we heard about over the pond in Atlanta, Georgia. Men of the UK... can you beat this??!

Nornally marriage proposals involve an air of romance, (hopefully) a diamond ring and a bended knee but filmmaker Walt Thompson, 29, wanted his proposal to be unique and that it was!

The newly engaged couple

He created a stop-motion animation movie featuring lego to pop the question to Nealey Dozier, 28. He spent two-and-a-half days on the project, taking over 2,600 photos of a Lego couple to create the three minute film charting how they met and fell in love right up until the proposal itself and even shows a clip of their wedding followed by the words 'Will you marry me'!

When the Simply Bows and Chair Covers team heard about Bebe's new bridal wear collection we were expecting raunchy, low-cut designs that oozed sex appeal but perhaps bared a little too much flesh to be wearing white but we were very wrong!

As 2012 holds out its hand we cast our thoughts back over 2011 and all of the fabulous weddings we have dressed, attended and adored here at Simply Bows and Chair Covers HQ. We thought we would share some memories of the more famous weddings of the last year with you in pictures tonight .....

It is fair to say that lace was a very strong theme this year, with everyone from Lily Allen and Reese Witherspoon choosing to embellish their dresses and head dresses with lace variations and of course Kate Middleton's long sleeved lace dress became an iconic design and image worldwide.

Some of the other royal brides of 2011 including Zara Phillips and Charlene of Monaco, went for more simple ivory silk dresses.

We have loved seeing the range of designs shown off to the world this year from Kim Kardashian's wide-skirted Vera Wang number to Kate Moss' slinky Galliano gown and have loved sharing them with you!

Simply Charming: A love story to warm your heart this Christmas

Celebrating 20 years of marriage this Christmas are Sue and Alex Tatham... and why are we sharing this anniversary on our blog you may ask? Well it just so happens that Sue and Alex have a delightful story to share of how they met and came to be deliriously happy 20 years on.....

The couple first met in the most unlikely circumstances... as contestants on Cilla Black’s famous TV show Blind Date!

‘Looking back, even when I was asked to audition for Blind Date, I never believed for one second that I would get to appear on the show. And I certainly never believed for one moment that I would ever meet the girl I would marry. Not in a million years.’ ‘Not in a billion years,’ Sue corrects him.

Alex was working as a trainee accountant when an office junior asked whether anyone in the office was interested in becoming a contestant on Blind Date and Alex thought it sounded like great fun and thought why not! Six months later he got a letter from the show inviting him to audition.

Meanwhile Sue had not thought the idea such fun and had in fact been secretly entered by a few of her friends whilst working as a recruitment consultant. The friends later recieved a rejection letter from staff at programme makers London Weekend Television. They insisted that any contestant must apply personally. Egged on by her friends Sue eventually agreed!

Blind date was a huge hit in the eighties watched by 18.2 million viewers every week!‘It was, in a way, the first TV reality show and I just thought I’d be showing off very heavily, that it would be a funny experience and would be something I could laugh about for the rest of my life,’ Alex revealed.

Alex, who chose a date, loved the attention and the 'whoops' from the audience while Sue was shaking like a leaf throughout the whole show as she was aired to the nation in competition with Lyn from Middlesex and Kate from Essex.

‘I don’t know why I chose Sue,’ says Alex, now 46. ‘She simply sounded very nice – and she was. Our date was to fly off to Ireland for a medieval banquet. We hit it off from the word go. Even on the plane flying out we discovered we both had exactly the same values in life.'

After their first date they went down to London and Alex took Sue to London Zoo before later taking her out for dinner and by the end of the evening the couple had shared their first kiss.

The following day, after filming the Blind Date segment in which the couple regaled Cilla and the viewers with details of their date and hinted there was a definite spark, Alex knew he was falling for Sue... three years of courtship followed with Sue keeping her job in the West Midlands, while Alex stayed over 130 miles away in London to finish his accountancy qualification. Many a time the couple struggled with the distance but never gave up on their relationship.

The time came when Alex decided to pop the question to Sue but just one nagging thought was holding him back before he bit the bullet. As befitting an Old Etonian from a privileged family, he led a very full social life of cocktail parties and dinner parties and he wondered whether Sue, from a less worldly background, could accept his determination to remain in the capital. ‘That was the thing I worried about most,’ Alex admits. ‘I had a very good social life and wanted to ask Sue to marry me on the condition that she move to London. I was so worried she’d say no!’ Sue however could think of nothing more perfect but dare not say it out loud so as not to tempt fate!

Alex’s planned proposal of marriage once he had summoned the courage was then indirectly scuppered by Princess Anne’s former husband, Captain Mark Phillips when upon about to pop the question Captain Phillips entered the restaurant and attention soon was upon him and the moment passed and Alex lost his bottle.

Ten days later the loved up young couple were babysitting Sue’s young cousin Ben when he asked, “Are you two married?” Ben replied with “Do you think we should be?” and Ben nodded with enthusiasm.”And that was that! A ring made of Ben's Play-Doh was made that night and the proposal took place!

After meeting on the show and dating for three years, Alex and Sue married in 1991 in a traditional church ceremony, with Cilla among the guests in a televised ceremony. ‘Sue and I were from extraordinarily different backgrounds, and we were brought together in a rather lovely way. ‘But for Blind Date, we would never have met and we are enormously lucky to have each other. I’m a very strong believer in what will be will be – and, anyway, that’s rather a good defence mechanism generally in life' said Alex.

Sometimes fate just takes it's course...

Simply Charitable: We support The Sick Children's Trust

Simply Bows and Chair Covers work with many local charities to help them raise funds and make their events look spectacular!

Kristy Giblin who manages our West Northumberland and Cumbria office is also a member of the fundraising committee at Crawford House ran by The Sick Children's Trust as it is a charity close to her heart and has worked to raise nearly £2000 for them over the last year.

Kristy was invited along by The Sick Children's Trust to represent Simply Bows and Chair Covers at the Real Radio Xmas Party live with presenters Gary and Lisa on the air on Friday 16th December where they were raising funds for the charity and what fun she had.... She met some fabulous celebrities and chatted on the radio explaining what a great charity The Sick Children's Trust was and what people could do to show their support.

Gary and Lisa’s All Day Christmas Party was a sensational 12 hour marathon show in front of a live studio audience followed by The Three Wise Legends Christmas Special all to raise money for Crawford House.

Across the day Gary and Lisa were joined by Little Mix, Bob Mortimer, Michael Crawford, Amelia lily, Joe McElderry, Denise Welsh, Matthew Kelly, Liz McLarnon, Run Geordie Run and a host of other regional stars.

It was fun, it was family, it was North East. And a total of nearly £12k was raised!

What facilities does your venue boast?

We have a hot tub overlooking the fells and a summer house with sauna. We don’t have lots of extra bells and whistles, preferring to concentrate on offering a totally relaxing, intimate atmosphere that guests return to over and over again for “time out” from daily hustle and bustle! Of course, we have beautiful bedrooms, a gorgeous oak panelled dining room, cosy lounge and beautiful grounds, enjoyed by those who stay with us and those who choose to book us exclusively for their unique wedding “house party”.

Does your hotel cater for weddings? If so, what numbers can you accommodate and what packages do you offer?

Yes we cater for intimate weddings of up to 45 guests for ceremonies and formal sit down wedding breakfasts. There is flexibility for more informal dining options where the whole house can be used for a buffet style celebration. Each wedding is individually styled to each couple’s wishes – we don’t do packages! We also hold a few marquee weddings a year where we can cater for up to 200 guests. Our dining room and lounge are licensed for civil ceremonies

In partnership with Simply Bows and Chair Covers and Fantasweets, we also cater for fabulous high tea hen parties from a special afternoon celebration at Winder Hall, to an exclusive full house party with pamper packages from Amethyst. For exclusive bookings (just as for weddings) the minimum stay is one night midweek, and two nights at a weekend.

What about events, both large and small, what numbers can you accommodate?

The numbers are similar to weddings. Less formal occasions where people enjoy a buffet mean we can cater for up to around 70 in the house. With a marquee the numbers increase to up to around 200. We will tailor any event to suit the style of the person booking, and we guide people on what works best within Winder Hall. We also offer wonderful party and wedding celebrations at The Saints Rooms, our Baronial Hall in the historic market town of Cockermouth, where we cater from 40 to 140.

7 beautifully appointed bedrooms, including 2 four posters. These contain iPod docking alarm clocks, flat screen TVs, free Wi-Fi access, excellent tea and coffee facilities, bottled waters and stylish toiletries.

We change our table d’hôte menu daily according to the freshest, local, seasonal food available. In keeping with the style and intimacy of Winder Hall, the experience is unique. We have an extensive wine list, ranging from reasonably priced Panul house wines to carefully selected special vintages and champagnes. Something for every taste!

In the States this is not a new idea and many men now wear engagement rings without question as do many male celebrities. Crooner Michael Buble and his fiance were recently papped with matching engagement rings...

British jewellers are understandably thrilled at the news of this wedding trend set to hit the UK but it seems the ladies of the country are less keen..... maybe we love the romance of the traditional way of doing things? Much loved Twilight characters Bella and Edward's nuptials in The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn, Part 1 have been long awaited and have caused alot of interest throughout the wedding industry.

Just days after the film launched at cinemas, an imitation version of Bella Swan's wedding dress had already hit the shops!

Regularly featured on our blog, renowned wedding dress retailer Alfred Angelo was the chosen retailer to with producers to design a dress replica to launch in conjunction with the blockbuster movie.

Designer Michael Shettel joked that the confidentiality agreement for the top-secret project was 'signed with blood,' while code words were used in the discreet planning process.

Buttons run the length of the back of the 'Edwardian inspired' gown, which according to Hollywood Life is valued at $35,000. Both the dress and its accompanying specially-designed Manolo Blahnik jewel-encrusted shoes are set to go on sale as part of the designers' 2012 collections. The replica, costing a very reasonable $799, stays faithful to the original, but opts for liquid satin instead of silk.

We cannot believe that Simply Bows and Chair Covers is celebrating it's 3rd birthday.... so much has happened in these three years and so much is yet still to come we're sure! Lets take a little look back over this exciting three year journey......

In January 2009 Sarah Pittnedrigh, MD of Simply Bows and Chair Covers set up the business from her home in Durham after organising her brothers wedding and being incredibly disappointed with the level of quality and service given when arranging the Chair Covers. Sarah quickly realised that with her previous experience and skills combined with sourcing great quality fabrics and colour ranges and providing the utmost in reliability and professionalism she could indeed fill a gap in the market for brides who simply wanted more from their Chair Cover supplier.

Within the early months of trading we were thrilled to be asked to supply many of the premier wedding venues and given preferred supplier status in the North east of England.

Through continued growth and interest in the brand nationally Sarah decided to franchise the company as this was an ideal way to supply demand, maintaining quality and consistency as only individuals with vast wedding and event experience were considered in order to ensure only industry professionals joined the brand enhancing the company's experience and expertise further and breathing new life and ideas in to our exciting company. Brides come to me for something a little bit different for their wedding which will be fun and memorable for them and their guests and adds to the feel of their special, personal day.

What is your favourite design and why?

I would have say 1950s designs and styles are my favourite.

What is the most popular item you supply and why?

Ice cream cornets are my most popular Daisy treat and no matter what type of event or what area I am in the banoffee ice cream always comes out at the no1 choice, male and female, children and adults.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

From books and magazines and music but mainly from my customers who have the best ideas and suggestions. I love that as a small company I can adapt and personalise the service and products I offer to suit different people.

What is in store for you in 2012

This year has been all about getting Daisy up and running, renovating the bodywork and working on the mechanics so she is able to take bookings further afield. I am currently renovating her interior, installing a generator, new electrics, freezer, chiller, water system, lighting and sound system. I’m also taking licensing exam so I can apply for an alcohol licence for her and she can be a Champagne and cocktail bar too. Next year will be all about weddings, parties, events and festivals, she’s booking so incredibly fast it’s looking like 2012 will be a very exciting year.

Who would be your dream client, and what sort of design would you envisage for them?

I love that all my clients are different they all bring their own stamp to their day and their Daisy booking, they are all dream clients.

What would be your top tips for brides when searching for a supplier in your industry?

Look around at lots of different suppliers to start with and then start narrowing it down, ask for quotes and samples if possible, ask as many questions as possible and go with your gut instinct, if a supplier is off hand or difficult to contact strike them off and move on. You need to feel you can trust your suppliers and be sure they will deliver, you don’t need the stress of chasing them up or the disappointment if they do a sloppy job. Always remember you are the client.

Where are you based and where can you supply?

I am based in Berkshire, Daisy can get to events up to 100 miles away under her own steam, further afield she has to hop on a trailer.

Located in the heart of the Lancashire in more than 100 acres of countryside the delightful Ribby Hall is a venue we are thrilled to work so closely with. Their idyllic location is just 10 minutes drive from the beaches of Blackpool and Lytham St. Annes and only a short drive away from the city of Preston. Located in fabulous landscaped grounds they are licensed for civil ceremonies and can cater for receptions for up to 300 people. We decided to interview Ribby Hall's events team to bring to you lots of great information, inspiration and some great images to really give you a feel for what this exciting venue and its sparkling new spa have to offer..

We have a range of wedding packages available, depending on time of year and guest numbers. We can accommodate up to 350 guests.

We can accommodate events with numbers from 50 – 360.

Yes guests can stay on the village we have the following available:

-New 5* Spa Hotel, adult only with 42 bedrooms

-174 cottages accommodating up to 6 guests per cottage

-6 Scandinavian pine lodges accommodating up to 6 guests, including outdoor hot tub

-The Motel, including 8 suites accommodating 2 people.

-The White House – luxury House accommodating up to 14 guests, including outdoor hot tub

-The Coach House – Luxury House accommodating up to 12 guests

All our menus are created using locally sourced, fresh produce. We also grow our own fruit & vegetables in the Ribby Garden. We can accommodate any dietary requirements and can work with any customer to build their own perfect menu. We have an array of wine, specifically tasted and chosen by our food & beverage managers to ensure that all customers have lots of fine wines to choose from.

Do you have any sporting/ spa/ golf facilities on site?

Yes we have a 9 hole golf course, mini golf and a New 5* Spa Hotel.
